PROJECT

Kick off and grow a non-profit arts platform focused on the intersection of art and technology.

RESULTS

The passionate founders and I established the Codame platform, now in its tenth year. I also brought in works by burgeoning (at the time) artists such as David Oreilly, Beeple, Presstube and Cyriak.

CODAME is a non-profit at the intersection of art and technology. They bring together the brightest minds to showcase tech-focused art through unique and immersive experiences and events. CODAME is also decidedly open-source, and provides a space for artists to network and share knowledge.

Art and technology are two of my biggest passions, and I had the privilege of working with CODAME in a few different roles: Event Curation, Identity Design, Collaborative Creator

Event Curator

As a curator, I had the experience to work with some of the most talented digital artists around, creating experiences that served as their canvas. I curated various installations and performances for CODAME's flagship event, ART+TECH Festival, and other events in the Bay Area.

The success of these events was evident as CODAME became the first arts group to show at the DEFCON conference, which averages around 18k attendees and was in its 20th year running at the time. Below are some examples of the immersive experiences I helped curate for CODAME.

Identity Design

The CODAME I.D. features energetic layered marks reminiscent of lights being cast around, reflecting the nature of their events which would involve screens, projectors and lights (a loooot of them). It's abstracted to look like more of a quick scrawl rather than a rigid font, with the bright magenta and blue in the full color version taking on the look of something viewed with 3D glasses.

Creative Collaborations

As part of my role with CODAME, I had the pleasure of collaborating with various artists to bring their visions to life. By providing concepts and themes, we worked together to create immersive and interactive installations that engaged audiences in unique ways.

With these collaborations and many others, I enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with artists to create innovative and inspiring works that push the boundaries of art and technology.

One of our collaborations was the "Phracktography" project, a photobooth showcased at the DEFCON hacker conference. The installation would obfuscate portraits based on surrounding sounds at the moment of capture, resulting in fleeting and dynamic images. Melissa Castro was the photographer while Angat Gaada manipulated the imagery feedback live.

Another collaboration was the "Ecstatic Epiphany" installation, which transformed an existing glass grid wall in San Francisco's Tenderloin district into a fluid display of color. This started out as a thematic idea I had proposed for CODAME's event, we set out to search for an artist capable of taking this idea and bring it to life in their expression. That artist was Micah Scott, who brought her unique vision to this, fabricated, coded, composed and constructed a site-specific fluid installation.
